We found a list of car rental places and called EVERY ONE! Literally. Not a single car to be rented in Las Vegas! They were all booked until the next day, which I guess was a good thing because most places had a $300 drop fee for not returning the car to the same city that we picked it up in. Quite the dilemma, right??!
Grandpa to the rescue!!
We called Matt's dad and he offered to make the drive from Mesa to Las Vegas to pick us up and then turn around and drive right back so that we would be there that night!!
So, while we had 5 or 6 hours to spare in Las Vegas, we made use of public transportation and did some "sight seeing"
Luke ended up riding the bus in a blanket and shirt, but our first stop off the bus was Walgreens for diapers!! We paid $10 but got 40 diapers!! Good decision Matt, Luke was half naked in Las Vegas but we held out for the good deal!
We had a fun time and the kids were pretty good, I made 13 dollars drinking a smoothie and looking at some tupperware and Noah received a $10 donation from a very nice lady that he smiled at..we're thinking it could have had something to do with the fact that Luke was walking around in a makeshift blanket skirt and, well, as you can see we were all looking so lovely, who knows what that sweet woman thought about our poor children!
Matt's dad got there around 5 or 6 and we headed off on the driving part of our journey, which wasn't half bad since the kids slept & I wasn't driving! We went by Hoover Dam and the men were very excited about this bridge thing, so here it is!
We finally made it to our Spring Break spot 34 hours after we left our house (plus a 3 hour time change) and went right to sleep, in a bed!!
Woah!!! You didn't mention the details of your Las Vegas rescue at the Easter egg hunt! What a story. Make sure you keep that one around to read to your posterity for years and years. So glad it all worked out okay! And Luke looks cute in a blanket skirt.
